XY’s Best Pokémon Hunting Apps

169

As almost everyone on the planet knows by now – Pokémon Go has been around for a few weeks, with millions of fans flocking to city centres, parks and places of interest in hopes to catch rare and even legendary Pokémon.

Many of these players go out with nothing but their phone, hunting for things to add to their Pokedex, but with the game being a recent release, it is still facing problems. A big problem right now is the ‘three step glitch’ – this is a problem when it comes to tracking said Pokémon, as the footsteps on the ‘nearby’ area don’t actually go down like they should.

This is where we help you – If you didn’t already know, there is apps to help you hunt the Pokémon you want, with less hassle.

We will start with apps which gather information through crowd-sourcing. This means the app allows users to add Pokémon sightings to a shared map, therefore allowing others to locate where Pokémon have been caught in the past. To improve the accuracy and reliability of the sightings, the app has a rating feature to allow users to “up-vote” or “down-vote” a sighting.

PokeFinder & PokeRadar both use crowd-sourcing, so can potentially be inaccurate but are still very useful. They will get more & more useful the longer the app is out, with more and more locations been added while the low-rated locations being removed.

If you go onto the App Store and download one of these Apps, be sure to submit some locations of your own and help your fellow trainers!

PokeVision

Another type of resource you can use for hunting is PokeVision – this uses the Niantic API to grab the location and duration of spawned Pokémon, meaning the ones that show up are genuinely there in the exact location for the exact amount of time.

Although using PokéVision does take away some of the ‘surprise’ of hunting, it makes it easier to get the hard to find Pokémon that you need to fill up your Pokedex.

So, they are our top 3 resources to help you fill up your trainer Pokedex! Good luck!
